 About the Book

Everyone is dying and chaos is erupting across the United States. A young man named Cole has abandoned a career and a conventional life in the city to live in the woods of Northeastern Minnesota as a modern day voyageur, paddling his kayak in the thousands of lakes and rivers that make up the ancient waterways that the voyageurs had roamed. The story of Cole unfolds as the chaos erupts in the cities of the South. In his earlier adventures Cole had met a group of anarchists, musicians, and artists called the Proudhon Tribe that he discovers have also survived. The Proudhon Tribe and the various other mainstream society dropouts that call the North home band together to create a new civilization based on living in communion with nature. The human population continues to drop and the loose grouping of free people are left in the North to continue with their lives and keep out the encroaching groups that seek to enslave or kill them while cutting down their forests and diverting their water and food. This is the memoir of a young man who went from basement punk rock shows in the city to a life in the forest outside of the chaos and finally to acting as a scout in the autonomous zone and fighting the invading soldiers from the cities he had once visited.
